Shinya Takahashi Makes Another Splash With a Wave Race Tease

It turns out that new Nintendo hardware is not the only news Mr. Takahashi may have let slip at this year’s BAFTAS. During an interview with Fandom, he stated that we may not have seen the last of this franchise.

“You may see that game again,” Takahashi teases with a grin. “We have been trying to make many games and that may be one of them … I personally love Wave Race!”

It’s of note that Shinya Takahashi was not always GM of Nintendo’s Entertainment Planning & Development Division, previously he worked as a developer on the Wave Race franchise.

This does not guarantee that Nintendo is making or planning on releasing a new Wave Race title anytime soon, but we have confirmation that there’s at least one person holding a flame for it. In more good news we did get another confirmation that Nintendo is working on many games right now, which only makes the wait for E3 that much harder.

Ice-T Gearing Up For an Announcement

Found on Resetera people have taken note of a recent tweet by Ice-T.

With E3 coming up could this be related to a possible Gears of War 5? There’s plenty of reason to believe that such a game would be in development already.

The other option could be related to the previously announced Gear of War movie that Universal started working on a year ago. At that time the writer had just been picked for the film which means we could be hearing more about casting or a tentative release date for the film.

Either way, we suggest you stay tuned to Ice-T’s twitter and our front page to keep up with these new Gear of War developments.

Google’s AI could one day help you eavesdrop on a conversation

ARS Technica detailed a recent post on the Google Research Blog revealing a major advancement in voice recognition software.

This new technology is actually AI algorithm that has been trained to hone in on voices similar to the way the human ear can. Unlike other voice recognition software, this AI is not built to make transcriptions or translate voice into another language. It’s built so that you could parse out a single person’s speech clearly in a crowded space.

By studying thousands of hours of video the AI has learned to use a combination of speech pattern recognition and visual speech recognition. Meaning that the AI actually watches which person in the video who is talking, then assigns the correct sound signatures to that person so you can switch between them, lowering one person audio and maker the other’s speech significantly more clear.

It means this technology won’t easily allow you to pull audio out of a crowded room without line of sight, but one day we could see something like this used to accurately detect speech that would have otherwise been incoherent. Regardless of silly, nefarious, or theoretical guesses as to its application, I have to say this, it’s pretty darn cool.

Rare is Sailing In The Right Direction

Last month Sea of Thieves launched to much fanfare, but after only a few short weeks the excitement of the game has tapered off dramatically. The giant oceanic playground Microsoft and Rare cooked up was a brilliant display in team-based mechanics. The biggest complaint and reason behind drop-off has to do with the limited number of things to do in the game.

For that reason, it was a very welcome announcement when Rare detailed the first in a series of upcoming content updates for the game. In a strong show of support for their current player base Rare also announced that none of these upgrades would be sold as DLC, making them free to all players.

A number of updates are coming with the first arriving in May. The first update will include what has been dubbed “The Hungering Deep” which focuses on a new enemy type and event

Many other things are planned for the future, more cosmetics, items and even pets. We’re excited to see Rare keep their promise of support and look forward to this next update. I’m personally hoping that Alex Marinello will finally get actual anchors on these pirate ships at some point in 2018.

Is Marvel Prepping The Eternals for the MCU?

Marvel continues to pull no punches in the lead up to Avengers Infinity War. The upcoming film will be the beginning of the end for what Marvel has dubbed its third phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With only Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 left to follow up Infinity War we are left to speculate what comes next.

We already know that Guardians 3 will be kicking off Phase 4, but there’s a hot new rumor first posted by Bleeding Cool News that Marvel is developing The Eternals into a live action series.

Bringing The Eternals into the MCU makes sense with the impending end of the Guardians trilogy and a continued expansion into a more cosmic universe. They would similarly provide yet another relatively unknown face to the public for Disney and Marvel to shape into their own.

For now, this is just a rumor with no confirmation, but everyone anticipates an upcoming announcement soon from Disney about what their actual plans are. Until then, we will continue to wait for Thanos’s spectacular arrival at the box office.

Is this The End for Agents of SHIELD?

Agents of SHIELD which is currently on it’s 5th season has yet to be renewed. Fans are growing more worried by the day as we wait to see if the show will be cancelled or not.

A recent listing by Disney had the show on a list of upcoming season premieres, a temporary cause for celebration. That was until a new listing for the season finale revealed it’s title ‘The End’.

Does this mean we are nearing “The End” of the series? It’s a pretty ominous title that has everyone worried. There are two other considerations, it could be simply The End of the world referencing the current arc, or it may tie into Infinity War, which Agents of SHIELD has done many times before when movies come out.

Either way we will be finding out sometime next month, and hopefully before then we will hear news saying Agents of SHIELD has been renewed.
