New Nintendo Hardware Soon?

In an interview with the BBC, GM of Nintendo’s Entertainment Planning & Development Division a Mr. Shinya Takahashi made a statement regarding new hardware. As pointed out on Resetera, the most interesting fact about this is the unprompted nature of his statement.

In the interview Mr. Takahasi was asked “Do you think the success of the Switch has come as a surprise?” to which Mr Takahasi responded with the following:

“Nintendo constantly works on hardware, so we have been doing research and development. So you may see the new system sometime in the future.”

Since then many places have reported on this statement. With some theorizing that we may be seeing a Tegra 2 powered Super Switch or a mobile only Switch Mini at this upcoming E3.

The truth is Nintendo is always working on new hardware, and it’s more likely this could be referring to accessories that go along with the device. New Joy-cons or add-ons similar to the upcoming Nintendo Labo. What is not likely in the immediate future is a Switch 2, although there have been lots of rumors and speculation about a cheaper mobile only switch device. Nintendo is also known for strange patents, odd accessories and vaporware like the Vitality Sensor so we must keep this in mind when considering hardware.

With E3 a mere 2 months away it’s best we sit tight and wait to see what if anything Nintendo has in store for us.

Black People: Dope By Default?

Swag. Chill. Dope. The Bomb. Breezy. Fly. All of these words are synonyms for the word “cool”. These adjectives are also commonly assigned to Black People when describing how cool they are. Why is this? Is it because Black People are predisposed to being dope that the word “cool” is simply not good enough?

Are Black people born naturally cool? In this episode, Jack and Alana (inspired by a Trevor Noah comedy special) discuss the perceived effortless cool possessed by Black People. Alana will try her best to be as unbiased as possible.

Jessica Jones Season 3

Netflix has just announced that Jessica Jones will be returning for a third season. Jessica Jones season 2 premiered in March to fairly good reviews although most viewers will contend it failed to live up to the first season.

This news a welcome one to fans of the Defenders universe that Netflix has been home too. Disney has recently announced the creation of their own streaming platform, one which will house Marvel and Star Wars live action content.

Many have wondered if this would be the end of the road for Netflix and the street level world of heroes they have been building.

Jessica Jones Season 3 adds to a list of additional entries we have to look forward to, such as Dare Devil Season 3 and Luke Cage Season 2. No date has been set but I would guess we won’t see our favorite powered PI return until fall 2019 at the earliest.

Are They Still Making a Halo TV Series?

Found on Resetera it appears as if the long-anticipated and even forgotten about Halo live-action series is still on the slate for production.

Even more curious is the update by Production Weekly that Showtime is prepared to begin production this fall. Fans may remember Steven Spielberg is helming this project if you don’t remember this don’t worry. It was announced all the way back in 2013 during the Don Mattrick years of Xbox.

Most people expected this to have been canned along with other planned live-action projects when Xbox One’s failed media first strategy was upended. It appears as if this was not the case and they have simply been waiting for the appropriate time.

Could this be a sign of the 6th and presumably final chapter in the current Halo arc is about to be revealed? It’s possible, I wouldn’t expect to see a new Halo game in 2018, but a fall 2019 release for Halo 6 alongside a live-action series seems like a great fit.

Twin Galaxies Erases Billy Mitchell From Leaderboards

Over the last few months, a controversy regarding the High Scores of two prominent arcade players has come into question. Todd Rogers was the spark at the beginning of this explosive finding. When his score in Dragster was proved to be fraudulent Twin Galaxies acted accordingly and removed all records held by Rogers.

As it happens, Billy Mitchell, someone who held more High Scores than just about any other player had his high scores brought into question. A thorough investigation was launched by Twin Galaxies into the authenticity of the scores claimed by Mitchell after an extensive claim by Jeremy Young to prove Mr. Mitchell had cheated and used emulators to attain his scores.

To add to the fire for some of the records Billy Mitchell held his only witness to the events was a one Todd Rogers, the same man who was found to have faked his own high scores.

The press release by twin galaxies reads:

Based on the complete body of evidence presented in this official dispute thread, Twin Galaxies administrative staff has unanimously decided to remove all of Billy Mitchell’s’ scores as well as ban him from participating in our competitive leaderboards.

We have notified Guinness World Records of our decision.

On 08-28-2017 Twin Galaxies member Jeremey Young ( @xelnia ) filed a dispute claim assertion against the validity of Billy Mitchell’s historical and current original arcade Donkey Kong score performances of 1,047,200 (the King of Kong “tape”), 1,050,200 (the Mortgage Brokers score), and 1,062,800 (the Boomers score) on the technical basis of a demonstrated impossibility of original unmodified Donkey Kong arcade hardware to produce specific board transition images shown in the videotaped recordings of those adjudicated performances.

It’s safe to guess Billy Mitchell may not be making more appearances at Cons or events, but we do know for certain his name won’t be on any more high scores.

Adam Savage Is Returning To Mythbusting

A personal hero of mine Adam Savage announced he will be returning to television later this year. Discovery revealed that they are developing MythBusters Jr. with Adam Savage and the 10 episode series will launch in late 2018.

Adam Savage and former Co-Host Jamie Heineman concluded their Mythbusters series after over a decade in 2016. Since then Adam has been working primarily on live shows and his website Tested.com

Adam had this to say about his return to T.V.

“I’m so excited to be returning to Discovery to work with these kids on a new incarnation of the show I love so much,” Savage said in a statement. “To be able to confront them with great questions and the resources to answer them is such a dream. Helping to inspire future scientists and engineers is a mission I share with Discovery.”

Regardless of their penchant for needless (but cool) explosions, it’s of my own opinion that Mythbusters was an important series to a generation of makers and young scientists. Adam returning to TV with the goal of growing a more scientifically engaged and curious generation is an exciting proposition, and I expect the show to be phenomenal.

Ninja scored 5k$ in a game of Fortnite with Drake

Continuing the Twitch love affair Ninja and Drake played more Fortnite earlier today. During the game Drake offered Ninja 5 thousand dollars if he got them a Victory Royale.

It’s an easy win for Ninja who spends the majority of his days playing the game professionally on Twitch.

During their game Ninja asked Drake when he would put references to the game in upcoming songs. Drake responded by making another easy bet, and stating he will reference Fortnite once the game adds Hotline Bling as an emote. We expect Fortnite to respond with a special dance emote as soon as possible.

2018’s Lowest Fantasy League Score Yet

Our latest Fantasy League update has our lowest score yet. Extinction arrived yesterday to an absolute whimper. A game that is all too similar to Attack on Titan but without any of the teeth. The bland cartoony style, no multiplayer hooks, and limited skill tree garnered a score of 56 on Metacritic worthy of its lackluster offerings.

With this title being our lowest score the honor goes to Tom for his fantasy draft. Tom and Alex now have the same number of released titles resulting in Alex’s narrow lead.

The next game release on the schedule is God of War on the 20th, that game was drafted by Alex Marinello. So far it has already gained incredible scores across the board over a week ahead of release. April will likely see our highest and lowest scores of the season for some time.

Westworld Creators Troll Reddit

The creators of Westworld have been very candid about their thoughts on Reddit. Often times Jonathan Nolan actively talks about how much he laments the spoiler and theories section. Nolan has talked about using what the community is solving as a guide on how to change the plot so that people can’t solve the mysteries of their show faster than intended.

Which is why during an AMA it was a shock when Jonathan Nolan announced the following:

We thought about this long and hard, and came to a difficult (and potentially highly controversial) decision. If you guys agree, we’re going to post a video that lays out the plot (and twists and turns) of season 2. Everything. The whole sordid thing. Up front. That way the members of the community here who want the season spoiled for them can watch ahead, and then protect the rest of the community, and help to distinguish between what’s ‘theory’ and what’s spoiler.

It’s a new age, and a new world in terms of the relationship between the folks making shows and the community watching them. And trust is a big part of that. We’ve made our cast part of this decision, and they’re fully supportive. We’re so excited to be in this with you guys together. So if this post reaches a 1000 upvotes we’ll deliver the goods.

Hasta victoria siempre!

Jonah and Lisa

This was a stunning and forward thinking announcement. Many people cried foul, while others assumed it all must be a joke. That was until they posted a video titled Westworld Season 2 – A Primer.

The video begins with Bernard waking up on the beach. The actor is narrating the opening of this scene and telling us what is happening, and for the briefest moment, we were through the looking glass and beyond the event horizon of spoilers.

That was until the reality crashing reveal of this brilliant con came into motion. Bernard leads into town where we find Evan Rachel Wood performing a rendition of “Never Gonna Give You Up” Rickrolling everyone. Next, the video cuts to 20 minutes of a cute pup sitting in front of a piano in black and white.

I for one am glad this was not real, but there are some fans out there who believe this could be the future of spoilers, it’s possible one day a show will do this. Until that day It’s white hats and theories for me.

Westworld returns to HBO on April 22nd, our new Podcast Watch World begins April 23rd.
